ABOUT US
Welcome to Coomber Craft Wines Oceanside. We believe that having fun should be part of the experience of drinking great wine and welcome you to the realization of our dreams and many years of hard work. We couldn’t be prouder.
Along with six other investors, in 2008, Maureen and I opened a fantastic winemaking facility in Santa Barbara, California. After it opened, we did what any other wine-loving couple would do...we started making wine. 2009 was our first vintage. We started by explaining to our great in-house winemaker, Travis Proctor, what type of wine we wanted to make. Then, we tasted and we tested. Then, we did it again, and again.
Each year we learn more and more. In 2019, we were thrilled to open our Oceanside Urban Winery and Tasting Room, which has quickly become a favorite to locals and visitors alike. It is a comfortble and inviting establishment in the heart of Oceanside, and the ideal spot to spend a relaxing afternoon or evening among friends.
We like to make wines that have something to say. A bit of personality in a bottle. We generally like our wines a bit bolder than normal. In 2014 we sent one of our bolder wines to Wine Enthusiast. We almost fell out of our chairs when the magazine called to tell us that we were receiving a 95 rating in the upcoming 2014 Summer Ratings (“Top 2% of ratings given”). Not bad for a first rating.
But really, why is Coomber Craft Wines Oceanside different? It’s not JUST about the wine. It’s about fun. Making friends. Creating a Community.
